☀️ Happy Monday, UC neighbors!

Spring is starting to show up across Union County—and this week’s lineup reflects it. From peak daffodil season in Summit to a packed Saturday with a downtown stroll in Cranford and live jazz in Rahway, there’s a clear shift toward getting out and doing something. Add in a few easy weekday options and a strong new restaurant in Summit, and you’ve got a mix that works whether you’re planning ahead or deciding last minute.

New in Summit

Aubrey’s Corner
527 Morris Ave., Summit

A newer addition to Summit’s downtown dining scene, Aubrey’s Corner is a family-run neighborhood bistro blending New American comfort food with French influences. Think elevated classics with just enough edge to stand out without trying too hard.

The menu leans into familiar favorites done well: a double smash burger with Calabrian aioli, a rich French dip with red wine au jus, and a short rib grilled cheese that signals exactly what kind of place this wants to be. On the dinner side, you’ll find more composed plates like braised short rib, heritage chicken, and a prime NY strip.

The positioning is clear: approachable but elevated, equally suited for a casual dinner, date night, or small group gathering. Add in a solid cocktail program (Old Fashioneds, mezcal, and seasonal riffs), and it rounds out as a strong all-around neighborhood spot.

🗳️Last Week’s Poll: What Are You More Likely To Do This Weekend?

No surprise here—Union County is hungry 😄 Going out to eat was the clear favorite, with more than half of you choosing it over everything else. A small group is doing the best of both worlds by pairing dinner with an event, while only a handful are heading out just for events alone. And of course, a solid chunk is keeping things cozy at home—no judgment there. The takeaway? If you’re heading out this weekend, there’s a very good chance it starts (or ends) with a great meal.

🌼 Did You Know?

The daffodils at Reeves-Reed Arboretum weren’t planted all at once—they trace back to the 1920s, when the estate’s owners began planting them by hand. Today, that tradition has grown into tens of thousands of blooms each spring.
